My Favorite Place

an essay by my niece, Myra Milam

It won the city of Springfield competition and was forwarded to state of Missouri.

My imagination,
My favorite place.
I can close my eyes,
And escape.

There is nothing I like more than to escape
From the world and everything it contains,
And enter my own.
My own world,

Where I can travel anywhere.
Here or there,
Near or far.

Places that don't even exist.
Only in my mind,
Can I find these places,
And escape.

Escape the stress of life,
And the world around me.
My favorite place:

The imagination
Where I can think about everything,
Or nothing,
All at once.

I can think about the good things,
Or the bad,
And sometimes both,

But never neither.
I can picture 10,000 places at once,
And in an instant they can all disappear.
Sometimes I think about myself

And where I want to go.
Other times I think about my life
And what I want to show.

But no matter how many times I travel to places,
I always end up in the same location:
My imagination,
My favorite place.
